Job Title: Access Services Librarian (Job 892)

Reports to: Head, Access Services
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Hours: Sunday 9am – 5pm (required)
Monday – Thursday between 8am- 6pm* to be determined
*Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings based on the needs of the department
Location: Health Sciences Library, Basic Sciences Building
Job Summary: The Access Services Librarian manages daily activities of the access services department including management of policies and procedures; analyze user activity; assure best use of departmental resources and the functionality of the library facility; reference services; educational media training and backup support.
Job Requirements: Librarian provides reference services and orientations; hands-on backup audio-visual, webinar and educational media services or equipment; maintains appropriate ILL and circulation manuals; performs ILL borrowing and lending, provides documentation, systematic processing, delivery and billing; and additional departmental duties as needed. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong personal and professional integrity with the highest ethical standards and public service orientation essential.
Prior Experience: A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience preferably in an academic environment.
Skills: Basic circulation, access services and reference knowledge, including PubMed searching required. Knowledge of ExLibris, ILLIAD, DOCLINE, OCLC and basic educational media equipment preferred. Strong analytical skills and strong statistical ability. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational and managerial skills essential.
Education: ALA-accredited Masters Degree in Library Science required

Physical Demands: Ability to carry up to 40 lbs especially up and down stairs when elevator is not available. Will travel to Skyline building on occasion to provide audio visual and back-up services as needed.
