On Friday, March 31st, Web of Science (WoS) will roll out their new Preprint Citation Index. The index provides “nearly two million preprints from arXiv, bioRxiv, chemRxiv, medRxiv and Preprints.org” all in one convenient place. It can be searched alone or along with the Core Collection Index. This exciting news allows users to opt-in to include preprints within their normal search strategies. You can access the library’s WoS subscription directly or visit our databases page.
According to the WoS blog post, the Preprint Citation Index will:
- Find the published version of the preprint (when available)
- Link preprint citations to published articles indexed in WoS
- Link preprints to an author profile
- Set up alerts for new preprints on a topic or by an author
