The HSL offers electronic access to the 23rd edition of The 5-Minute Clinical Consult, now optimized for tablets and mobile devices.
For web access, click here. For tablet and mobile access, download the StatRef app from the App Store or Google Play. (If you have trouble downloading or logging in to the app, click here to watch a short video that shows you how.)
This point-of-care resource has two sections: (1) diagnosis and treatment flowcharts, and (2) disease topics. The first section “contains flowcharts (or algorithms) to help the reader in the diagnosis of clinical signs and symptoms, and treatment of a variety of clinical problems.” Once you’re in 5-Minute Clinical Consult, click “Diagnosis and Treatment: An Algorithmic Approach” on the left and then browse by symptom:
Each disease topic contains four sections: Basics (description, epidemiology, general prevention, pathophysiology, etc.), Diagnosis (history, physical exam, lab, diagnostic procedures, differential diagnosis, etc.), Treatment (medication, surgery, etc.), and Ongoing Care (follow-up recommendations, patient education, prognosis, complications, etc.).
To find disease topics, browse alphabetically on the left or enter a search at the top of the screen:
