The Tech Tuesday series is meant to be a quick and informal introduction to web-based tools which the librarians select to assist with presentations, productivity and organization. We will hold a monthly format session, a half hour in length where we present a selected tool or type of tool and the ways in which they can be used in academia and life.

Measuring or assessing the value of scholarship is a topic that is getting more attention. Alt-metrics in another way to assess scholarship using Social Media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. This session will provide an overview of what alt-metrics is and describe some tools and links including: Altmetrics, Slideshare, Twitter, etc. Participants will have an opportunity to set up accounts using widgets for Altmetric, org, Impact Story, PLos, and others, as time permits. Come and learn how to assess the impact of your own publications.
