Orientation Season is in Full Swing at NYMC

The summer months are always busy ones at New York Medical College. The new house staff arrive at their clinical sites around July 1, new medical students are here by August 1, the new Masters and PhD students start  in mid-August, and soon enough it’s September and the new School of Health Sciences and Practice students begin. In the meantime, the Health Sciences Library eagerly looks to get everyone registered, oriented, and ready to take advantage of HSL resources, services, and facilities.

Liaison librarians are available to provide orientation for any of these programs. If you are a chief resident or program director or faculty in any program, consider adding a library orientation or other instructional session related to information management, to your program’s schedule. To identify your liaison see here: http://library.nymc.edu/information/liaisons.cfm Or use our Instruction Request Form to directly request a session and your liaison will get back to you as soon as possible to finalize the schedule and discuss your needs.

If you are not yet a registered user of the library but are enrolled as a student, or you’re faculty or otherwise eligible (see our Access Policy) you should complete an Application Form in order to register for access. The library will issue you a barcode and your barcode number will be used to both borrow materials from the library — as well as access library resources from off-campus. If your program doesn’t schedule an orientation, you can also contact your departmental liaison or fill out a Consultation Form in order to get a tour or a personal orientation to the library.

And of course you can always call the library 914-594-4200 (registration and access) or 914-594-4210 (reference and user support) to discuss your need and get the assistance you need.

Get off on the right foot. Know how to use your library and all of the services and resources, so you know that you know how to get to the information you need when you need it.
