On June 11, 2009 a celebration was held at the Health Sciences Library to introduce our newest arrival: NYMCat. The name NYMCat was selected from among over 70 entries to a naming contest. The contest was juried by members of the Library and Academic Support Committee (LASCOM) and library administration. The winning entry was submitted by Andrew Welka, a first year medical student, who was awarded a $50 Visa gift card. We thank all of you who submitted entries to the contest. Pronounced (“nim-cat”) the winning name was selected because it is recognizable as both an NYMC product and a catlog (Cat). NYMCat is the database which lists all items owned by the NYMC Health Sciences Library – both print and electronic, and as such should be the first place users look when trying to identify access to NYMC held information through the library.

NYMCat is live and available from the library’s home page: http://library.nymc.edu

Pictures from the NYMCat celebration on June 11 can be found on the library’s Facebook page. While you are there, become a FB fan of the library!
