24th Annual NYMC Faculty Author Celebration

New York Medical College celebrated its faculty authors at the annual Faculty Author Celebration, held on October 24, 2017. Faculty, administrators and library staff congratulated the 2016 faculty authors and special awards were presented by Marie Ascher,  MS, MPH, Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director of the Health Sciences Library, for outstanding achievements (see below).

Thank you to everyone who participated in or supported this event, especially Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Edward C. Halperin, MD, MA and Nina Kurzban, MLS, Compiler and Editor of the bibliography.

We continued our collaboration with our colleagues at Touro to produce the Touro College and University System Faculty Publication this year, of which NYMC publications make up a considerable portion. Moving forward, this publication is being replaced by Touro Scholar, our institutional repository.  Inclusion in Touro Scholar increases visibility leading to increased citation. Because of this we created a new award this year for the publication with the most downloads in Touro Scholar. Another new award uses the SCImago Journal Rank, an alternative to the established Journal Impact Factor,  as a measure of scientific influence of scholarly journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from.

We are already working on 2017’s compilation. Please submit information about your most recent publications.
