The Health Sciences Library welcomes Marie Ascher, M.S., as the new Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director of the Health Sciences Library. Ms. Ascher was previously Associate Director of User Support, Education and Research Services in the Health Sciences Library, responsible for the library’s reference, outreach, and instructional programs. Since joining the College in 2001 she has been very involved in the library’s strategic planning, guiding the library to new collaborations, new models of reference service and expanded outreach. Her grant writing expertise, record of publications and presentations and the active role she plays in the Medical Library Association has made a name for New York Medical College in the field of medical librarianship. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Marie as she assumes this new role. See the October 6, 2014 issue of InTouch for more information.
Diana Cunningham, M.L.S., M.P.H., the former Associate Dean and Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director of the Health Sciences Library, retired at the end of October after 22 years at New York Medical College. Ms. Cunningham undertook many initiatives during her administration, including but by no means limited to the transition of the library from print to electronic resources and the renovation and expansion of the library to the Medical Education Center. On October 27, the Library staff held a small retirement party, in addition to the college’s October 1 reception, to wish Diana a fond farewell.
