New Research Data Management Service Offering

This fall the Capozzi Library’s Digital and Data Initiatives Librarian, Katharine Tepper, participated in a ten-week intensive professional development program called the Data Services Continuing Professional Education (DSCPE).  The DSCPE is funded through a gift from Elsevier, Inc. and the Countway Library of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

As part of this prestigious program, Katharine participated in live and self-paced learning modules and completed a 50-hour capstone project under the guidance of Research Data Librarians at a host site.  Her capstone mentors were librarians from the UMass Chan Medical School Lamar Soutter Library. Under their guidance, she created a video tutorial on preparing biomedical research data for deposit into an open data repository.

Throughout the DSCPE experience, Katharine was able to shadow her mentors and learn from other librarians providing research data management services to their communities. As a result of this training, Katharine is now offering Data Management and Datasets Consultations to the NYMC community!

Data Management and Datasets Consultations are ideal for researchers who:

  • Are working on creating Data Management and Sharing Plans for grant proposals
  • Are looking for publicly available datasets for research question
  • Want to learn more about research data management best practices
  • Need assistance locating a repository for research data and preparing data for deposit

Feel free to book an appointment with Katharine for your research data management needs, or any of our other consultation offerings.
