MedRxiv, a health sciences preprint server, has added new features for following preprints and setting up subject alerts.
Preprints are versions of articles that are made publicly available before the final, peer-reviewed version is published. While preprints cannot be relied upon to inform clinical practice, preprint servers allow researchers to disseminate information and receive early feedback on their work.
Follow This Preprint: A daily email notifies a user when a preprint of interest is revised, withdrawn, commented on, peer reviewed, or published in a journal. To follow a preprint, click the “Follow this preprint” button at the top right on any preprint page; select the events you would like to follow and click “Submit”. See Following Preprints for visual instructions.
Collection Alerts: Receive emails when preprints are added to your subject area(s) of interest. Click Alerts from the top of the page; click to sign up for alerts; click either Add a New Collection Alert or Sign up for Subject Area Alerts; select subjects of interest and click Save.
